The existing space prior to the renovation consisted of a series of randomly interconnected offices and tenant areas. The new office layout was organized around two corridors running north and south. These corridors are punctuated and centered around a central atrium space. Once floored over, the space was restored and a new open central stair was added connecting the main office area to the second floor area. Highlighting this area was the provision for the existing skylight space at the roof to filter light throughout this central space. John Snyder Architects, PLLC centered the entryway around an existing light shaft which also provides natural light to the central core of the space. A new conference room was added with a curved wall to break from the orthogonal historic architecture. The conference room is a pivotal function for Concept Systems’ phone conferencing and meeting space. The offices were designed with open windows to the corridors and to the central atrium and light shafts to maximize openness and light to the internal offices.
